What is TIDE?TIDE is "Trauma-Informed De-Escalation".
A single training session committed to changing the TIDE on violence in the workplace. We are incredibly thankful to our co-creator, an Aboriginal woman and Traditional Owner, who recognised both the integrity of TIDE's work and its potential to create positive change for her community and others. She played a meaningful role in shaping TIDE’s early direction and identity. TIDE does not teach from a single cultural framework. Instead, draws on a deep understanding of diverse cultures and lived experiences, developed through extensive professional practice and personal engagement of founder, nurse and trainer, Misty Carey. TIDE is grounded in research, listening, and firsthand experience, and is designed to help people in positions of authority better understand the physical and psychological impacts of trauma, how trauma intersects with violence, and how responses to behaviour can either escalate or de-escalate harm Uniquely supported by immersive technologies Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to change the TIDE on escalation and violence. Our flagship training- Trauma-Informed De-Escalation is endorsed by APNA- Australian Primary Health Nurses Association and aligns with their approved quality standards criteria, so completion of our TIDE training entitles eligible participants to claim 6 CPD hours. |

A new kind of de-escalation training
TIDE strives to reduce violence in healthcare and social service settings through training in de-escalation using immersive technologies: Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence. In a single face-to-face session, participants learn practical techniques for de-escalation of clients or patients displaying distress through aggression — all through a complex trauma-informed lens. Participants practice these strategies in a safe, simulated environment, where they can build confidence in real-time behaviour escalation responses. |
Practical, flexible & grounded in experience
The core training is a single five-hour face to face session either at a TIDE facility or conveniently in your organisation. TIDE's co-founder Misty Carey is a Registered Nurse with 30 years’ experience who understands the multiple pressures and complexities of acute hospital, primary care and corrections environments. TIDE's training program can be designed and adapted to suit any size organisation to deliver both high-impact and time-conscious training for busy teams |
Bringing VR to the frontlines of care
TIDE Education partnered with Dr Nathan Moore and the team from Frameless Interactive to integrate their "Difficult Conversations" and "Code Black" modules from their award winning Learnsuite Health platform to TIDE's training. |
Step into realistic scenarios and gain practical skills in trauma-informed de-escalation through Frameless Interactive's cutting edge virtual reality experiences

Why This Training Matters
Public service environments are becoming increasingly strained. This affects clients, staff, and the wider organisation—making it harder to provide care and even harder to sustain a safe and supportive workplace.
Evidence shows that the application of trauma informed principles is effective in reducing escalation and improving staff satisfaction.
With TIDE, participants enter real-world scenarios where they practice de-escalation with an AI client —using their own voice and words, allowing for deeply practical and memorable training to draw on instinctively in a high stress situation.
